Today’s Scripture: Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. Proverbs 23:5

What did we spend money on in America this past year? 10.7 trillion dollars in shopping, 96 billion on beer, 550 million on pretzels, 1.4 billion dollars on teeth whitening products, 310 million on pet products, 16 billion on chocolate, 4.2 billion on perfume, 2.3 billion on tattoos, 500 million in golf balls, 800 million dollars on girl scout cookies, 65 billion in soft drinks, 11 billion on coffee, and 110 billion dollars on fast food.

Here in the states we have what I would call “first-world” problems. What I mean by that term is that most of our problems are things like: I am out of my favorite cereal, I need coffee right now, or I really want that new car that is sitting at the stop light in front of me. Honestly, we all really need to assess what we have bought in the past year. Instead of getting that new tech-toy, going golfing, or splurging on all kinds of food at the grocery store, we should save a little money somewhere each month and give it to missions where they actually have third-world problems. Problems like: where is my next meal going to come from? I wish there was a roof over my head that would actually keep the rain out. Where am I going to find medicine for my illness and will I ever be able to afford to get help?

The best way to manage your money is to give it to God. In His hands, no bank can lose it, and no investor can misuse it. With your money and prayers, you can make a difference all the way around the world while still serving the Lord right where you are. You can help support Christian schools and churches in the Philippines, Thailand, India, and countless other places. The fields are white unto harvest, and we need to equip and sustain the laborers who have life more difficult than we do here in America.

If you feel that the Lord is leading you to give today, but you don’t know who to give to, we have plenty of missionaries that have graduated from Dayspring Bible College & Seminary who would be blessed by any amount you would be willing to give. You can make an eternal difference today just by going to and donating to one of the missionaries we support here at Victory in Grace. I promise you that spending your money on a struggling pastor’s family or a Christian school teacher in a third-world country will be far more gratifying here and in Heaven than any first-world entertainment you could buy today.
