Today’s Scripture: And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. 10  For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. Joshua 2:9-10

As you’re thinking back on 2017 this week, you might find yourself feeling down or discouraged about areas of life in which you feel as though you failed. However, you can look to the Word of God and find story after story of people who had a checkered past, but were still greatly used by God. One such person was Rahab – a prostitute from a condemned city.

How did people like Rahab manage a fresh start? Faith in the Almighty God. It is apparent in today’s Scripture passage that she had heard the testimony of the power and might of the God of Israel. She showed more faith in God than the ten spies that had been sent into the land over 40 years before.

Rahab didn’t sit around and mope about her past – she put her faith in action and showed kindness and protection to the two spies that Joshua sent into the city. She realized that the God who was powerful enough to part the Red Sea was powerful enough to topple the walls of Jericho. She also believed He was powerful enough to save her and her family.

Don’t sit around and dwell on the past. Be like Rahab – get up, get going and do something for the Lord.
