Today’s Scripture: My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. PsalmĀ 62:5-8

As the tornado alarms wailed all around, the old couple made their way into the basement. As they huddled close together in the basement, they heard the wind howling violently above their heads. Suddenly, they heard a loud crash, and the wind started throwing things around the room. As the couple huddled closer together, they prayed for protection and safety for one another. As the tornado slowly passed, they listened closely for any sign that it was safe to come out. After a while, they slowly made their way out to assess the damage. The loud crash they had heard was a large tree that had fallen through the roof. As they looked at their now destroyed house, they thanked God for His protection through this incredible storm.

We all face violent storms in our lives – some physical, some emotional, and some spiritual. Many times, all we can do is cry out to God for help. He is our rock, salvation, defense, glory, strength, and refuge. We are told to trust in Him and pour out our hearts before Him. He knows what we are going through, but when we come to Him, we can have peace knowing that He will use that situation for our good.

God is so good. Not only is He our rock of salvation on which we can boldly stand, but He is also a rock of refuge in which we can hide when we are going through the storms of life. We can stand knowing that because God is our rock, salvation, and defense, we shall not be moved. Trust Him through the storms you are facing today.
