Today’s Scripture: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Genesis 5:24
A mother asked her daughter what she had learned in Sunday School. The girl replied, “Enoch.”
The mother said, “Well, what about Enoch?”
So the little girl told her mother this story. “Enoch lived a long time ago, and God would come by every afternoon and say, ‘Enoch, would you like to take a walk with me?’ Enoch would say, ‘Yes, I’d love to take a walk with you, God.’ So every day, God would come by Enoch’s house, and Enoch would go walking with God.
One day, God came by and said, ‘Enoch, let’s take a long walk today. I want to take you to a place that you’ll like. I want to talk to you.’ Enoch got his coat and even packed his lunch, and they started walking. They walked, and they walked, and they walked, and finally, it got late. Enoch said, ‘My! It’s getting late. I’m a long way from home. Maybe, we’d better start back.’
God said, ‘Enoch, we are closer to my home than yours, so you come on and go home with me.’ Then Enoch went home with God.”
Now, that’s a simple way to look at the story of Enoch, but it might not be too far off. Enoch went home to be with God because he walked with God.
He never saw death because he walked with God! After learning the story of Enoch, we ought to be excited about walking with God. God wanted to walk and fellowship with Enoch, and I know God wants to walk and fellowship with you. Will you walk with Him today?
