Today’s Scripture: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12

So many songs have been written about the name of Jesus: – Jesus is the Sweetest Name I Know, The Strong Name of Jesus, All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name, and At the Name of Jesus – just to name a few. Why is the name “Jesus” so important? It is because it is the name God chose for His Son before the world began since it was He who would save us from our sin.

No one can save us from our sins – except Jesus. When the angel came to Joseph, it was told him, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21) Acts tells us, “There is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) Jesus Christ came to save sinners, and salvation can only be found in Him.

Because He came and died for us, God has exalted His name. Philippians 2:7-10 says, “But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;”

Every knee will bow to Jesus. His name has forever been elevated above every other name because He humbled Himself to die for us. He is worthy of our worship and praise because of what He has done. Thank God for His love for us and for sending Jesus to die for us.
