When the Apostle Peter asked to walk on the water, it was a most unusual request. Some scholars have criticized Peter for trying to show off in front of the other disciples. Others have criticized him for trying to show that he had more faith in Christ than the other disciples.

But in reality, one of the main reasons Peter wanted to walk on the water was he wanted to be closer to Jesus. Peter wanted to be close to Jesus, and Jesus wanted to be close to Peter.

Do you want to get closer to Jesus? People who walk by faith want to be as close to God as they can.

If you really want to get closer to Jesus, you need to walk by faith. This means to make some changes in your life. You cannot stay where you are and get closer to Jesus. Peter wanted to change from being in the boat to being close to Jesus.

Are there some changes God is leading you to make so you can live a life of faith? Maybe you have some worldly habits. Perhaps you aren’t attending church or reading your Bible as often as you should. Pray that God would help you make those changes. You’ll be glad you did. Now, step out of the boat.

Faith believes the Word of God for what it cannot see, and is rewarded by seeing what it believes. – Unknown Author
