Imagine this scenario: One morning, God wakes up and jumps out of bed, flips on the TV, and watches the world news. Havoc reigns as the four corners of the globe are riveted by disasters causing death and destruction. Filled with absolute shock that such tragedies could happen in His orderly universe, God takes the palm of His hand and strikes it against His forehead, saying, “That wasn’t supposed to happen!”

Does anything ever take God by surprise? Of course not, because He knows everything. Nothing is news to Him. He already knew it would occur. If God could create our universe and not be aware of the minutest detail within it, He would not be God.

Let’s apply this truth to our lives: Everything we will encounter over the course of this day, this week, and the rest of our lives is known by God. He knows every deadline we will face, every ailment we will experience, every painful situation we will endure, and every achievement we will ever make. He knows our potential, as well as how close we will come to reaching it. He knows our pain threshold just as He knows what is necessary to bring us comfort. God even knows the outcome of our response to each situation we encounter.

With this in mind, you may be thinking, If God knows all of these things, then why does He allow the bad things to happen?

Only God knows the answer to this question. We may never know His purpose behind our circumstances, but we do know this: His way is perfect, and everything He allows works together for the good of those who love Him. Will you believe this truth and apply it to your life? Then entrust the outcome of your circumstances to Him today.

There are three things that only God knows: the beginning of things, the cause of things, and the end of things. — Welsh Proverb
