While I was in the Philippines a few months ago, I saw something beautiful in its simplicity. At the house I stayed in, there was a hot water heater hanging on the wall next to the shower. Rather than having multiple pipes in the house, only one cold water pipe was needed. All that was necessary for hot water was pressing the “On” button of the water heater.

I shared this story during the Grace Conference because that simple shower system reminded me it is often harder to make something straightforward than to make it confusing. It reminded me how we often obscure the gospel’s clarity. We are stewards of such a valuable, yet simple, gift. Satan desires to complicate that gift with lies such as, “You must turn from all your sins,” or “Make Jesus Lord of your life to be saved.”

In reality, all one has to do to be saved is place his trust in Christ and His shed blood on the cross. Jesus already is Lord. We do not need to make Him Lord to be saved. And how could a person turn from all his sins? This isn’t a prerequisite for salvation (1 John 5:13; John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:18).

Christian steward, are you sharing an unpolluted gospel message? Purpose today to share the gospel message as simply as God intended it to be.
