Today’s Scripture: There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs¬†14:12

Popular opinion doesn’t mean it is the right opinion. Often, decisions are made simply on the voice of the majority. This is not necessarily wrong, but sometimes we are guilty of assuming that the majority is correct. Yet, God’s will is often vastly outnumbered. We can read many instances in God’s Word where the man of God had to stand alone or with a very small remnant: Noah and his family, Moses and Aaron, Caleb and Joshua, Gideon, the Prophets, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, John the Baptist, the Lord Jesus, and the Apostles, just to name a few.

Who would you expect to win, David or Goliath? Sometimes we get so caught up in the overwhelming favorites that we forget to seek God’s will. We think that something is so obvious that we just assume that it is the right thing.

Not only do we conform to the majority, sometimes we think our opinion is the only one that matters. We are so sure of something that we are even willing to go against those in authority over us because we think we are right. We pursue it with everything we have, only to have our plans end up in failure. Rather, we need to seek God’s will and allow Him to work in our lives. We need the counsel of Godly men and women to help us make wise decisions. When we ignore their warnings, we will find our lives in ruin.

Instead of choosing to follow our own ideas or the whims of the majority of those around us, we need to find God’s will by seeking answers from Him. Through prayer, the Bible, and Godly counsel, we can rest safely in God’s will. Don’t look around for the answers; look to Him.
