Today’s Scripture: And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus. 2 Timothy 4:12
The hustle and bustle of Ephesus’ busy streets crowded his thoughts. Through the din of the shouting merchants, he wove his way through the crowd. In the distance, he saw one of the most massive buildings he had ever laid eyes upon—Ephesus’ famous amphitheater.
He could hear the shouts of its eager crowd. The grandeur of the city and its amphitheater left a lasting impression on him. Rather than becoming side-tracked, Tychicus carried on with the task of delivering his letter.
Today, the city of Ephesus is a mere shadow of the prosperous city it once was. However, the contents of the letter Tychicus delivered are in perfect condition and are read by countless believers to this day in the book of Ephesians.
Although Tychicus’ task of delivering the letter to the Ephesians may seem small in comparison to the fact that Paul wrote the contents, consider for a moment: What good would Paul’s letter have been if it had not reached its intended readers? What truths would have been lost had Tychicus not taken his job seriously?
Although the task you have been given may seem insignificant, you must still do your best. Why not make it your goal today to be faithful as Tychicus was? When you allow the Lord to use you in whatever way He deems best, you could make a more lasting impression for His glory than you ever thought possible.
