Today’s Scripture: And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go. Judges 7:4

Gideon had an army of 32,000 people. This was nothing compared to the Midianite army which they would be fighting, but God knew that if He helped Israel with 32,000 people that they would not give God the glory for the victory, but take credit themselves.God told Gideon to do a couple of things. First, he lost 22,000 people, and later, he lost most of those who remained. It ended up being an army of 300 against an opposing army which was literally uncountable.

obeying God, Gideon lost 31,700 soldiers in his army that wasn’t big enough to start. That being said, 300 soldiers with God’s help, is a better army then 32,000 without His help. Think about it, if Gideon would have disobeyed God and brought 32,000 soldiers to battle, we can be certain that many thousands of people would have died in vain. Also, the Israelites would have almost certainly lost the battle.

However, on the flip side, Gideon’s army of 300 with God’s blessing had a 100% chance of winning. It went from very unlikely to win, to impossible to lose. Why? Because God is that powerful.

Do you believe that you are more financially stable with 100% of your salary, or with 90% of your salary plus God’s blessing? God desires at least a tithe from all His children to be given back to Him through the local church. Where is your faith in this area of life? Will you be like Gideon and sacrifice what you do have that isn’t enough already? If you do, God will show how powerful He is and will provide what you need, as well as give you spiritual blessings on top of that! Give God a try; tithe.
