Is it really more blessed to give than to receive? One of the pastors in our church found out for himself that this is true. There are two kinds of people in this world: givers and takers. This man admitted that he was a taker. But he married someone who is a giver. For years, he couldn’t understand how she could give things away and still get blessed. Then he tried it for himself – and he started getting blessed, too.

Anytime we choose to obey the Word of God, we will get blessed. Of course, we shouldn’t obey just for a blessing. We obey God’s Word because we love God and trust that His way is best. But like this pastor learned, we are assured of a return when we put God’s principle of giving to practice in our lives. Let’s see what the Bible says: But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

The return may not be financial. God won’t necessarily give you ten cents on the dollar, but He may give you peace of mind when your life is spinning out of control. I can’t tell you exactly what God’s going to do for you because you gave, but I will say this: You will reap what you sow. Give, and let God take care of the rest.

Are you known as a stingy person? Do you cling with a viselike grip to things? Learn to loosen up your grip on your possessions, and you’ll see God bless in ways you never imagined.

When it comes to giving, some people stop at nothing. – Unknown Author
