What would you think of a book which contained dead-on accurate descriptions of events which took place hundreds of years into the future? The prophet Daniel wrote such a book. Some have dismissed his authorship, saying he couldn’t really be the author because his account is so exact. They believe it must have been written by somebody much later on, maybe even 100 years after Christ.
Yet the controversy was put to rest when fragments of the book of Daniel were found in Qumran. This was a place where Jewish scholars would meticulously copy the Scriptures. These scholars would never have allowed errant manuscripts in their treasure house of Scripture, which proves both the authenticity and authorship of Daniel’s writings. Once again, the Bible has withstood the test of scrutiny.
Has God’s Word withstood your scrutiny? I’m referring to those times in your life when you challenged the accuracy of its claims. Maybe you were confronted with a biblical truth that stood in sharp contrast to your lifestyle, but you chose to disregard it. Perhaps God revealed a promise in His Word which directly applied to a situation you were facing, but instead of taking Him at face value, you trusted your own wisdom. Who was right in the end?
The Word of God is always right. But we don’t have to learn this the hard way. Let’s take this knowledge and reap the benefits by standing upon God’s Word today. Don’t turn left before the right.
You may as well quit reading and hearing the Word of God, and give it to the devil, if you do not desire to live according to it. — Martin Luther
