You have reached a fork in the road and are faced with two options:
1. You can travel down the first road which is bumpy, paved only with gravel. It is narrow and filled with pot-holes. But it is the road which will safely direct you to your desired destination.
2. You can choose the second road lined with beautiful, flowering trees and shrubs. It is wide and has been recently paved with smooth blacktop. But it would send you on nothing more than a joy ride.
Neither option sounds appealing because you want to not only reach your destination, but also enjoy the scenic route. So you decide to invent Option Number Three and travel down both.
Here’s some bad news: Option Number Three does not exist.
The same is true of the Christian life. We will either live for the Lord or for the world. There is no third option. Although many believers think they are able to enjoy the pleasures of a carnal life and serve the Lord at the same time, no one can do both.
God has already shown us what road we are to travel—one filled with good works and service to Him. Satan tempts us with the scenic route. But we can’t be in two places at one time.
Christian, you’ve got two options. The question now is—which road will you choose? Make your decision today.
In some way, it is natural for us to wish that God had designed for us a less glorious and less arduous destiny; but then we are wishing not for more love but for less. — C.S. Lewis
