Today’s Scripture: Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Matthew 10:29-31

I have a hard time with names. We have a relatively large church, and I wish we could know everyone’s name, their families, and their needs so we could pray for and minister to them. Because we can’t do this, we have a staff of pastors to help us fulfill our responsibility to the people in our church.

caring for hundreds of people gives us trouble, imagine how the burden would increase if the hundreds multiplied to thousands, millions, or even billions of people. Our concern would escalate to a crisis.

But God intimately knows every detail-thoughts, aspirations, personalities, character, and even the number of hairs on the head-about the billions of people in the world. He knows when a tiny sparrow falls to the ground. How much more does He care for you and me?

You may be nothing more than a number to your phone company, your utility company, or your credit card company, but you’re not “just another number” to God. To prove how much He cares, He sent Jesus Christ to die for your sins. Three days later, He arose from the dead so you could have everlasting life if you put your trust in Him. That’s a lot of love.

You may be feeling lonely and unloved today. Let today’s devotional be a reminder to you that there is Someone Who cares. You’re more than a number in His eyes.
