Today’s Scripture: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: Psalm 66:18
Rob had been praying all week. He had a burden on his heart, and the only way he would ever find relief is if God lifted this burden off him. He had a problem though. God was not listening to his prayers. Rob had read Psalm 66:18 and knew why God hadn’t been answering his prayers.
Rob was listening to music he knew was not honoring to God at all. It was terrible music, but he loved it. He would do anything for God, except give up his music. He regarded iniquity in his heart, and the Lord would not hear him.
Susan wanted to visit her father who was in very poor health. He was a few states away, and she would never get an opportunity to go unless God provided the time. She prayed and prayed for God to intervene, but it still seemed as if she would never get to see her dad.
Susan read Psalm 66:18 and knew why God hadn’t been answering her prayers. She had been hanging out with friends that she should have been avoiding. Her friends were drinking, taking drugs, and doing all manner of things that she didn’t approve of, but still, she went to the parties with them. She couldn’t let go of her friends. She regarded iniquity in her heart, and the Lord would not hear her.
Everybody has at least one sin that “doth so easily beset us”. (Hebrews 12:1) If you are living in your sin, haven’t confessed it to God, and aren’t working on your walk with Him, He isn’t going to listen to your prayers. He knows you need His help, and He will help you with your sin problem as soon as you confess it to Him and ask for His help. He won’t hear you if you are still regarding iniquity in your heart.
Don’t let sin destroy your fellowship. Confess your sins today and know that God will hear your prayers.
