Modern technology has been advertised as the answer to resolving the time crunches of the fast-paced world we live in. It’s supposed to bring in an era of peace and utopia where we don’t have to lose sleep over the pressures of life. Don’t believe it for a second.
My ideal of peace and tranquility is leaving my smartphone behind, unplugging my fax machine, turning off my computer, cancelling my phone service and email accounts, moving to a dark jungle, and praying to be eaten by a lion or tiger quickly and painlessly.
But that’s not quite how it works. Peace is not something that just happens because we’re in the right place at the right time with the right set of circumstances. We can experience peace wherever we are and whatever happens if we know our Peace Giver, Jesus Christ. He is our Mediator Who gives us a direct prayer line to God the Father. He is the Author of peace Who broke down the wall of sin between us and eternal life. Real peace is found in knowing Jesus as Savior.
Maybe you’ve been prospecting for peace, but you can’t seem to find it. You’ve tried to find it in technology only to have it break down. You may have even sought it in the seclusion of a family vacation, but that didn’t work out either. Peace isn’t about what you have or where you are, but Who you have. If you know Jesus as Savior, you can give up searching because He is your Peace.
If God be our God, He will give us peace in trouble. When there is a storm without, He will make peace within. The world can create trouble in peace, but God can create peace in trouble. — Thomas Watson
