If you heard the screams of the people sitting all around us, you would have thought we were on a roller coaster at a theme park. But my wife, Linda, and I weren’t at a theme park. We were in the main cabin of a commercial airplane coming in for a landing at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago.

As our plane got ready to touch down on the runway, all of a sudden the pilot punched the throttle. We took off and barely missed the buildings and planes close by. It turned out the control tower didn’t tell the pilot about another plane on the same runway. When we finally landed, there was no one more grateful to get off the plane than Linda.

Through the whole ordeal, we never once doubted that we would go to Heaven if our plane crashed. We have a hope for eternity based upon our trust in Christ. It’s the greatest thing in all the world to know for sure you’re going to Heaven.

Friend, do you have this assurance? Your next breath isn’t promised to you. None of us knows when it will be our turn to stand before God. You may be successful in your occupation, or you might have dedicated your time and money to charity. When God says, “Why should I let you into Heaven?” what will you say? If you’re trusting in anything besides the death, shed blood, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, you won’t make it.

Do you want to be sure you’ll go to Heaven? Trust in Jesus today.

He whose head is in Heaven need not fear to put his feet into the grave. — Matthew Henry
