Today’s Scripture: It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom. Proverbs¬†10:23

Many years back, a train conductor in my church shared with me an interesting story. Arriving one day at the station, a man saw his train leave without him. He became very angry because by his watch, the train had left early. Even though people in the office told him that the train couldn’t be stopped because it was an express, the rushed gentleman ran out and started waving down this 65-mile-an-hour train. Tragically, the train hit the man and killed him instantly.

The man I have been writing about is definitely what the Bible would call a fool. A fool is lifted up by his own pride but doesn’t even see his pride as a factor in his decisions. He doesn’t heed the Word of God and probably would deny very vehemently were he alive today that he was a fool.

When I preached this message, the area was in the midst of a heat wave. I heard a doctor interviewed on the radio. The radio host asked him, “What is your advice to people during this heat wave?” The doctor gave a very obvious answer that probably anyone could have given. “If you have air conditioning, now is the time to use it. If you have a fan, then you had better turn it on.” This is obvious advice to me. Of course, if it is hot, I turn on my air conditioning! However, there are enough people out there who don’t use common sense to do the easy things to even make the heat more tolerable. Don’t be a fool-your life will end in train wreck.
