Today’s Scripture: But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9
If my tax assessor came to me and asked what my assets are, do you know what I would say? “I am probably one of the richest people on Earth. I have everlasting life. And I don’t know if you are going to try to tax me on this, but I also have an incredible mansion in Heaven.”
“I have peace which passes all understanding and joy unspeakable. I have God’s love which never fails. I have a wonderful wife, God-fearing children, and grandchildren who love the Lord. So, how much is that going to cost me, Mr. Assessor?”
Friend, our souls can be happy with only the good things God has given us. We do not need the latest laptop or smartphone to make us joyful.
Often we get so consumed with the possessions we would like to gain that we neglect to find the joy in what is already in our hands. The Lord has done great things for us. We can be glad in what He has already provided.
Are you seeking joy in earthly goods? Perhaps you are saving for a new tool, house, or car and feel you will only be satisfied after you get it. Remember, you have treasure in Heaven on which no tax assessor could ever put a premium. Let the priceless things of God bring you joy.
