Today’s Scripture: Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. John 4:35

Some days, we wake up and feel as though our life doesn’t mean much. This morning I want to share a true story with you that I hope will change your perspective on how greatly the Lord can use you today and every day you are open to following His will.

During our mission team’s most recent visit to the Philippines, an 18 year-old girl who was expecting her first child came to our clinic. Feeling weak, she requested medication to help her symptoms. A week later, Pastor Edwin Samson (a Dayspring graduate who is a missionary in the Philippines) heard that the young woman had been hospitalized. He and his wife, Anna, went to visit her and found out she had been sent home. When they visited her a few days later, she wouldn’t move at all. Although the doctors had sent her home saying that nothing was wrong, it was apparent to the pastor and his wife there was definitely a serious health issue.

Before they could visit her again, they received a call saying she and the baby had passed away. Deeply saddened by the news, the Samson’s decided to check the list of people who had been witnessed to at the medical clinic. The young woman was on the list as one who had placed her trust in Christ the day of the clinic. Pastor Edwin and his wife cried out of pain but then out of joy after realizing that the young woman and her child were now together in Heaven with the Lord.

Soon after, funeral preparations were made. Because the girl’s family was poor, their house was not big enough to get the coffin inside. The father was so desperate to give his daughter a proper funeral that he took the roof off of their tiny home in order to do so. After the funeral, Pastor Edwin walked around the neighborhood where the girl had lived and began witnessing to everyone who would listen. Some broke into tears because they finally realized that they needed a Savior. Many trusted Christ that day. Because a group of people were willing to spend time on a missions trip, countless people were saved for all eternity.

You never know how many lives you can touch when you simply allow yourself to be used of God. Today, He could use you to change someone’s life for all eternity.
