Today’s Scripture: And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:
God’s wrath was given at Mt. Sinai. The mountain quaked and shook with the fearful fire of the Lord. It was such a frightening sight it scared the entire camp of Israelites. If it scared Moses, imagine what it would do to you! He had some of the highest intimacy with God, yet he still feared and trembled before Him. How humbling is that for us? We, too, need to remember the Mount.
Although we are no longer under the Law, we serve the same God Moses served. He deserves the same reverent fear now as He did in the days of the Old Testament.
We tend to take the Lord for granted today, thinking that since we are under grace we are free to do as we please. We lose our awe of God. As society around us mocks His holiness, we begin to let our regard for Him slip. The lack-luster attitude of the world creeps into our lives before we even realize it is there
Have you lost your fear of God? Remember the fear and reverence Moses had for God. Humble yourself. Give Him the respect He deserves – remember the Mount.
