Today’s Scripture: I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. III John 1:4

There is a difference between retiring from a secular job and retiring from the ministry. When you retire from a secular job, the job ends, but when you retire from the pastorate, the job does not. The means may be changing, but the goal is still the same – to reach the lost for Christ.

Although I will no longer be in charge of running the day-to-day operation of the Quentin Road Bible Baptist Church, the great commission still applies. God commanded us all to preach the gospel, not just pastors.

I know it is time for me to step down from being Senior Pastor. I am retiring, not because my work is done, but because it is time for the next step. Stepping down will allow me to preach at other churches and spend more time at our new church plant near my home. I know my son is ready to take over the church and lead it on to a higher place than I have. As I move on, I know great things are in store for Quentin Road.

It is my greatest blessing to see my children and grandchildren serving God with all of their hearts. I know God will bless them as they seek to serve the One Who died for them. I thank God the men and women of Quentin Road are dedicated to reaching the world for Christ and will continue to do so even after I am no longer around. I thank all of you for your love and support through the years.

As I look forward, I can’t wait to see what God has in store as Linda and I move on to the next chapter in our lives.
