Today’s Scripture: Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. Proverbs 16:8
God wants you to be rich. How many times have you heard that from a TV preacher? So many teach if you will send in a gift to their ministry, God will make you rich. While there is no doubt God blesses when we give to Him, there is no promise anywhere in the Bible that it will be monetarily.
Sometimes God does bless with wealth: Abraham and Job were very wealthy, and King Solomon was probably the richest person of all time. However, many times, He does not. Jesus said, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” (Luke 9:58) Although He was King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He went through life without a home.
God doesn’t hold back blessings from us. Instead, the Bible tells us the Lord “daily loadeth us with benefits” (Psalm 68:19) and his thoughts toward us “are more than can be numbered.” (Psalm 40:5) God promises to supply all our needs, but He doesn’t supply all our wants. Instead, He wants us to learn to trust Him, be content, and use what He has given us for His glory.
God may decide to bless financially, but that is not His objective. God cares more for the spiritual state of our souls than the physical comfort we may have on this earth. No matter how much God has blessed you with, use it to honor Him. Having His blessing is better than all the money in the world.
