|Today’s Scripture: To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 2 Corinthians 2:10-11|
|How many people do you know that have trouble forgiving others? How sad is it when we hear about siblings not speaking to each other for years over something that neither one of them can remember? That’s not to say there aren’t things that we shouldn’t separate over, but those things should be limited to what God has said – essential doctrines and those who will not listen to correction.
However, the devil will use bitterness and unforgiveness to cause divisions in our families and churches. If he can get a foot in the door through something that is insignificant and turn it into a big issue, he can cause huge problems. The Apostle Paul knew that any issue that remains unresolved could allow the devil to get an advantage. We need to be careful to have an attitude of forgiveness. We need to remember any offense against us is much less than our offenses against God.
Don’t be ignorant of Satan’s devices. Have you been holding a grudge against someone? Don’t let it turn into a foothold for the devil. We need to forgive and forget, or he will take advantage. Christ has forgiven us of so much; let’s show others some of the forgiveness that was offered to us.
