Silence filled the courtroom as the defense attorney rose to his feet. Skillfully, he presented his case before the judge and jury. When he finished, his assistant attorney stood up and presented more facts and figures. It was obvious the team had years of experience together.

Though it appeared nothing could prevent the defense attorneys from winning the case, the plaintiff’s lawyer remained confident. But at lunchtime, the client expressed his desire for another lawyer.

“I’m doing all right. Why do you want another lawyer?”

“Well, I’ve been watchin’ them other lawyers, and when one of them is up speakin’, the other one is sittin’ there thinkin’. But when you’re up speakin’, there ain’t nobody thinkin’!”

Do you ever feel inadequate? Take heart, for God delights to do great things through unlikely means. He can use anyone who is willing to do His work His way. No task is too great or small to do for Him. The great thing about serving the Lord is the fact that He isn’t concerned about our abilities, or the lack thereof. Once we demonstrate availability, He provides the specific abilities we need for the task.

You might think that your abilities are less than spectacular. Are you willing to give them to God and see what He can do through you? When you do His work His way, everyone—including you—will benefit.

To be upset over what you don’t have is to waste what you have left. — Unknown Author
