Today’s Scripture: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:16

There is one person in every congregation the church would be better off without—that person is Someone Else. This person never completes the tasks he is given. Yet he is the first person to pop into the minds of other church members when they are asked to do something.

When asked, “Would you please work the nursery tonight?” The typical thought is, “Well, someone else will do it.” When a helping hand is needed to fix up the church facilities, most members of the congregation think it will get done without their help. After all, Someone Else is already on the job. The truth is, he never shows up.

We tend to assume someone else in our church will take care of whatever needs to be accomplished. Unfortunately, that presumption leads to many things never getting done. Often the pastor and his family must do it themselves. This should not be the case. God’s Word tells us the church is a body. We are all to work together.

Are there areas in your ministry that could really use a helping hand? Perhaps they might not be the most prestigious areas, but remember, not every part of the body can be an eye or a hand. Find an area of the body where you can make a difference. Don’t leave God’s work up to Someone Else.
