Today’s Scripture: Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: LukeĀ 12:37a

Christmas is coming! This announcement brings so much joy and excitement to us. One popular Christmas tradition that builds this excitement is the Advent Calendar. It originated in Germany in the 19th Century. Advent calendars can vary greatly but their purpose is to count down the days until Christmas. As it draws nearer and nearer, the excitement grows and grows until it is finally Christmas.

On Christmas we celebrate our Savior coming to die for our sins. He was born, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross to pay our sin debt. Because of His death and resurrection, we have the promise of eternal life in Heaven.

This Christmas, let’s not forget that He’s coming again! Although we don’t know exactly when He will come, we need to have the perspective that it could be today. Just as we look forward to the time when we celebrate His birth, we should anticipate that day when He calls us to be with Him forever in Heaven. His coming should cause joy in our lives.

Each day that passes only brings His coming sooner. Are you excited about the Lord’s return? Examine yourself, and ask if you would want Christ to return today. Let’s make sure we’re ready for His return.
