Today’s Scripture: And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Psalm 1:3-4

Have you ever met someone who is very good at being unhappy? It is sad that somebody can be so upset. Everyone I have ever met hates being miserable, yet so many people become miserable anyway. How can somebody be in such misery? Well, all you have to do is read Psalm 1 and be the opposite of the man that is blessed.

  1.  Walk in the counsel of the ungodly.
  2.  Stand with sinners.
  3.  Sit with those who scorn God and others.
  4.  Do not delight in God’s Law.
If you follow these steps you will be a like a tree…
  1.  Not planted by water.
  2.  That doesn’t bear fruit.
  3.  Whose leaves are dead.

Whatsoever you do will not prosper! It is that simple. Just be ungodly and you will not be like a “tree planted by the rivers of water.” Psalm 1:4 says, “The ungodly are not so.” God wants all of His children to be blessed. He wants to bless us, but if we will not listen to godly counsel, if we don’t fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ who will lift us up spiritually, then we will be ungodly, and God will not bless us.

Rather than be like a fruitful tree, we will be “like a chaff that the wind driveth away.” Ungodly people are not steady people. They just follow the trends of the world. They just go with the flow and never do anything productive. They do not bear fruit. Living a life that is not fulfilling your God-given purpose is a sure way to be unhappy. The most joyful people you will ever meet are those who are dedicated to Christ. Why not today decide to stop hanging around the ungodly? That is the first step to a joyous, purposeful life.
