Today’s Scripture: If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:6-7

The Taj Mahal is a remarkable building that has been one of India’s most popular tourist attractions. The building is over 300 years old. To reverse the aging process, however, the Indian people have invented a method to preserve the magnificent structure. A mixture of soil, cereal, milk, and lime is used on the surface of the building and sprayed off within 24 hours.

Over 300 years of neglect would certainly take its toll on the most durable of buildings. But how much greater the loss if a person went an entire lifetime without ridding himself of the sin that had built up in his life! Like the Indian people with their precious Taj Mahal, we as Christians must cleanse ourselves of the filth that piles up in our lives each day.

We live in a sinful world. You cannot even cross the street without seeing the effects of sin—fenced-in properties, door locks, speed limits, surveillance cameras, etc.—and its corruption in our culture. But thank God that He has protected us, His representatives, from its “aging effects.”

The remedy is confession. It is the means by which a believer is cleansed of the ugly stains of sin and restored back to fellowship with God. It’s therapeutic. This will add years to your life, and add life to your years!
