Today’s Scripture: But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Hebrews 2:9

Since entering flight service in the 1970’s, the Boeing 747 had held the record for having the largest passenger capacity. When economy class seating is configured throughout the airplane, the 747 can hold 660 passengers. Recently, the Airbus A380 blew that record away – it can carry 853 passengers in an economy-only configuration.

There seems to be an obsession with numbers in America. We want to know which TV show has the most viewers, which athlete has the most touchdowns or strikeouts, or which stadium can seat the most people (the First of May Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea at 114,000 people). No matter which record is held for any number of things, there is a greater number that exceeds all records ever held.

It is the greatest amount of people – “For God so loved the world…”

As human beings, we cannot begin to fathom the number of people who have lived in this world’s history, but God loved them all. Every man, woman, boy, and girl who has ever lived or ever will live are loved with the greatest degree of love from the Greatest One.

This love was extended to the people who physically nailed Him to the cross. As He hung there, dying in our place, He prayed “…Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do…” (Luke 23:34) His love even reached out to the very people who rejected Him (Luke 13:34).

What is the very best thing about the greatest amount of people? It includes you. Our Scripture today tells us that Jesus tasted death for everyone. Once you are saved, God’s love for you doesn’t stop there. You can experience His love and grace daily as you live your life for Him.
