Today’s Scripture: Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. Hebrews 1:2

Heir of all things- that’s pretty neat! Looking at the word “heir” suggests a couple things. First, it suggests dignity. The other is dominion. Jesus is the successor to the Father in all that the Father has. We know God owns all things! In Psalm 50:10, it says, “For every beast of the forest is mine and the cattle upon a thousand hills.” In Jeremiah chapter 32, God declares that He is the God of all flesh as well as the maker of Heaven and Earth. In those verses, He offers a challenge. Since God is the God of all flesh, and has created the heavens and the earth with His power and stretched out arm, He poses the question, “Is there anything too hard for me?”

Notice that Christ being made an heir was appointed in the eternal counsels of the Godhead. This is something that is hard for us to understand, but before the foundation of the world, God predetermined His Son would become a sacrifice for sin, and that He would then become the Heir of all things. In Isaiah 14:27, it explains that the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and once God purposes something, no one can disannul it! We also find in 1 Peter 1:19-20 that the precious blood of Christ was as a lamb without blemish and without spot. He was foreordained before the very foundations of the world to be our Savior!

Christian, do you know what security and comfort there is in realizing Who Jesus Christ is? How many times already today have you fretted or worried about something?

Remember the amazing LOVE of God in preparing a precious Savior, Creator and Heir of all things, ALL before the foundations of the World! I don’t know about you, but that sure makes me feel special! It also gives me security, comfort, and strength to face whatever God allows to cross my path today.
