Today’s Scripture: I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee. Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel. Isaiah 44:22-23

How can we know we are going to Heaven? When asked if they are going to Heaven, many people claim that it is impossible to know. They think that if you boldly declare that you are, you are presuming upon yourself too much. Even many Christians do not believe you can know if you’re going to Heaven. Either because they believe you can lose your salvation or because they believe you can’t know if you are saved, they don’t have the assurance of being in Heaven when they die.

This is not what God wants! He has told us clearly in His Word “that ye may know that ye have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13) God wants us to know we have eternal life without a shadow of a doubt. How could we know if it were up to us? We would always have a chance to blow it.

Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. When He died on the cross, He said, “It is finished.” The payment was complete – He did it all. He has “blotted out our transgressions.” He redeemed us. There is nothing left for us to do. Having assurance of salvation is not being presumptuous upon ourselves but upon His Word. We are trusting Him when He said “whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

We don’t need to worry that He got it wrong. Instead, rejoice, sing, and tell others that “the LORD has done it.”
