Today’s Scripture: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:6-8

Alcohol, illegal drugs, and abused medications-these are used to find one thing: peace-relief from stress, worry, and frustration. Because the lost do not have Christ to carry their burdens, they strive in vain to obtain peace.

Sometimes Christians find themselves overwhelmed and unable to control their racing thoughts. From hectic work schedules to family issues, there is always some source of pressure. We have a “medication” that will take care of our problems far better than any drug-the Philippians “peace pill.”

What is this spiritual “miracle pill”? It is a portion of Scripture where the Lord gives us some specific instructions on how to obtain true relief:

  1. Be anxious for nothing.
  2. Take everything to the Lord in prayer.
  3. Thank Him for what He has already done.
  4. Think on what is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report.

When we do these things, the Lord promises us His peace. He will keep our hearts and minds where they should be instead of allowing us to fret over what is already in His almighty hands.

Are you turning to the wrong things to find peace? Perhaps you are struggling with an addiction to anti-depressants. Maybe you take your stress out on your family or friends. Whatever your worry, there is one cure. Why not take the Philippians “peace pill” today?
