Today’s Scripture: Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Isaiah 53:10
We are in the final devotional on the story of Jesus. Fanny Crosby wrote in verse 3 of “Tell Me the Story of Jesus”…
Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,
Writhing in anguish and pain.
Tell of the grave where they laid Him,
Tell how He liveth again.
Love in that story so tender,
Clearer than ever I see.
Stay, let me weep while you whisper,
Love paid the ransom for me.
Christ died in your place. After He was rejected by His people, they sent Him to be crucified on a Roman cross. This cross, where they hung the Savior, became the destiny for the entire worlds’ sin. Christ’s physical pain is so indescribable, yet it pales in comparison to His spiritual pain. He, the perfect and just God, became your sin, was rejected by His Father, and was torn by a broken heart.
That, however, is not the end of the story. He was buried in a rich man’s tomb, though He was poor. Three days later, He rose in triumph over death, so you could live with Him for all eternity!
Will you trust in Christ’s shed blood to wash away your sins, for His death to pay the wage of your sin and for His resurrection to give you everlasting life? It would be such a terrible thing for Christ to go through that for you, to save you from eternal Hell, and then you still go anyways. What a horrific thought! If you don’t trust Christ that He did all that’s required to save you, then you will make His death have no effect on you.
He was bruised, put to grief, and made His soul an offering for your sin. Trust Christ as your Savior today.
