Today’s Scripture: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

What America needs is a good dose of revival. Embers from the Great Awakening still burn today in fundamental churches throughout our country. Stories of the “good old days” of revival over 200 years ago still incite passion within the hearts of Christians. Could it happen today? Even better yet, could it happen here? Yes, and we may see it in our lifetime.

But you say, “Haven’t you read the newspapers? Haven’t you watched the national headlines? The world isn’t ready for a spiritual awakening!” We cannot wait until the world is ready. Though hostile to Christianity, the world was soon ablaze with revival fire through tiny sparks used of God.

The key to revival then and now is not coercion, where people are forced into accepting the truth of the gospel. Rather, it is conviction. No, we shouldn’t go around judging everyone for their sins. But we must be faithful to communicate the gospel clearly—both at work and at home—so that our lives and conversations make the world aware of their need for a Savior. The Holy Spirit is alive and well in the world, and if He has willing vessels to work with, the fire will spread quickly.

What can you do? Pray for revival fire in this country, and in the world. Then strive to live so that a spark from your flame will ignite the dead branches around you!
