Today’s Scripture: For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. Hebrews 7:19

Six-year-old Jonathan scanned the crowds of people in the huge outdoorsman’s store. His father was nowhere to be found. Minutes passed. Jonathan became frantic. He regretted straying from his father to look at the big fish tank. Trembling, he sat down by the tank.

“Jonathan?” His father’s worried voice bellowed through the store. Jonathan looked up and saw his father. He ran to meet him. His fears were gone the minute he drew close to his father.

As believers, we also have a tendency to stray from our Heavenly Father. We find ourselves trembling with fear, overwhelmed by the troubles of this world. Our text today tells us that through Jesus we have a perfect hope. When we are close to Him, we never need to fear.

Have you strayed from your Heavenly Father? Perhaps you are a young woman struggling with the fear of not being accepted or a single father dealing with doubts about being able to raise your children alone. First, take a moment to reflect on the areas of your life where you have drawn away from Him. Why not deal with those areas right now? When He is near, all your fears will be set aside. He can always find you in the crowd. All you need to do is draw close to Him.
