Today’s Scripture: In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy spirit of promise. Ephesians 1:13

One crisp, clear day a young doctor rolled into a sleepy little town. Business was booming for him within the week. One old farmer saw all the commotion and wanted to make a profit too. So, he opened himself up his own clinic. On a homemade sign he advertised: Cures for $500… $1,000 back guarantee. Infuriated, the young doctor visited this old quack. “I’ll get that $1,000 and show him!” he muttered. He walked in and exclaimed, “I’m losing my taste! Can you help me?” The farmer told his wife, the nurse, to pull out box #22 and put three dots of its contents on the young man’s tongue. Within seconds, the young man was begging for water. “This is wasabi!” he yelled. “Very good. That will be $500, sir,” the farmer responded. The doctor returned the next week, “I’m losing my memory!” he exclaimed. “Honey, pull out box 22.” said the farmer. “No, no, no! I’m not going to fall for that again!” exclaimed the patient. “Your memory is back. That will be another $500,” the farmer chuckled. This time the young doctor returned determined, “I’m having trouble with my vision.” He failed each eye exam the farmer gave him. “Well, I guess I owe you your money back,” said the farmer as he handed him a $500 bill. “You owe me a $1,000! This is only $500!” hollered the young man. “Good, you got your vision back. That will be another $500. It’s been a pleasure doing business with you!”

No one wants to go through this life without profiting, but, did you know that everyday many of us go about sharing a message so muddy that it profits no one? No truth can profit if it can’t be understood. So, why do we make the gospel sound like an unobtainable cure? The most important message that needs to be given is: Jesus Christ died to pay for our sins and rose again. He who believes on Him will not die but have everlasting life.

We need to know that wording like “take Jesus into your heart” is not in the Bible. Phrases such as: repent and turn from all your sin, make Jesus Lord of your life, commit your life to God are impossible works. We sin so many times a day in our thoughts, words, and actions that there is absolutely no way to be confident that one has confessed all of them. Raising your hand, walking down an aisle, promising to make a life change-none of these things save us. It is simply the act of placing our trust in the fact that Christ paid for every single sin ever committed when He gave His life on Calvary’s cross that saves us. Why are we making this so hard for people to understand?

If you want to profit in the kingdom of God, go forth and win souls with a message so clear it cannot be confused with anything aside from salvation by grace alone, through faith alone. Let’s get the salvation business booming. Un-complicate the cure today. The fate of the lost depends upon it.
