Today’s Scripture: If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:1-2

Have you weighed your pursuits lately? If you logged the time set aside for those things highest on your priority list, what would you come up with? Would you find earthly pursuits like a well-paying job, a new car, or a favorite hobby consuming most of your time? Or would you find that heavenly pursuits such as sharing your faith, developing a closer walk with God, and prayer hold the greatest significance in your life?

Our lives are a manifestation of what we think about God. He who lives for the world feels the present holds all the significance. His quest for earthly achievement consumes his life. Busy whetting his appetite for immediate, temporal things, God is an afterthought. As a result, he is crushed with disappointment when his best-laid plans fail.

But he who lives for the world to come-Heaven in all its glory-has an outlook unhindered by any outcome. Temporal, worldly things don’t hold much significance. Trifles such as job crises, economic instability, and health problems aren’t worth their weight in worry, for the heavenly minded looks ahead to the future glory before him. His position uncovers a deep-rooted desire to let God have His way in his life.

Perhaps it’s time for you to refocus your pursuits. Are you striving for things that matter-things that will count for all eternity?
