Today’s Scripture: Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. Psalm 119:33-35

What happens when you give your entire life to serve the Lord? Well, there are many ups and downs. There are trials, triumphs, laughter, and tears. But the most valuable thing that is left behind from a life dedicated to the Lord is the legacy to those whose lives you touch. Through those people, more are reached, and then through them another generation is affected. Soon, a ripple effect has occurred, and so many lives have been touched that it is impossible to keep track. I want you to think for a moment what could happen if you chose this life for yourself. You may think, “There’s no way my life could reach across several generations and encourage them to serve the Lord.”

Today, I am writing to prove you wrong. Many years ago, a young man had a vision to help as many children as he could memorize as much Scripture as possible. He began developing a program where kids could come hear the gospel, memorize God’s Word, and be surrounded by adults that love the Lord. That man was Dr. Art Rorheim, the founder of Awana.

His wonderful wife, Winnie, passed away this past year at the age of 97. In her dying hours, she wasn’t unsettled or fearful. Instead, all she wanted was to be home with her Savior. Art and Winnie were married for 76 years, and in that period of time, they changed the lives of thousands, probably millions, of children and adults.

It just goes to show that there is no telling what you can do when you give it all. Maybe you are tempted to hold something back today in your service to the Lord. It may be your money, or the job that you were holding out for. Maybe you are being called, but you would rather have the security of a secular job, a secular diploma-to have a back up plan. If Art and Winnie could share with you face to face what God has done, they would change the way you see the rest of your life. I know their dedication has impacted mine. Why not let it change the direction of yours? We need more people just like them. Get on fire, and give it all.
