Today’s Scripture: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Christians seem to have little power or influence in this world. We live in an era in which people despise Christianity. The major news media depict conservatives as “right wing” extremists. Preachers are portrayed as bumbling fools. Ted Turner went so far as to say, “Christianity is for losers.” It’s as if religion is the worst thing that has happened to the world.

In reality, the church is one of the greatest things that has happened to the world. The prayers of God’s people are really what keeps our nation from disaster. Why has America been so blessed by God? On the whole, we have been a godly nation, putting out more missionaries than any other and continuing to support God’s chosen people, Israel. Because we have been faithful to these promises, God has blessed America abundantly.

The collective power of every Christian on his knees is far greater than any political party or watchdog group. True, there are many ungodly actions being promoted by our leadership. Abortion, gay rights, and sexual perversion are tearing at the fabric of society. However, the way we are going to see victory is by crying out to our Heavenly Father for the good of the country.

How can we stop the downward spiral of morality in America? It’s not with any political agenda; it’s by lifting up the nation in prayer before our Almighty God.
