Today’s Scripture: And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. Luke 2:16
After the angels gave their announcement to the shepherds, the shepherds went to the manger. However, the shepherds did not just come to the manger when they felt like it. They “came with haste.”
That is the response God wants from all of us. We need to come with haste when He leads us somewhere. No, we will not be told where to go by angels in the sky, but by reading God’s Word and listening to godly counsel. If He has told you to do something, then do it. You will give God the glory by listening to counsel and will save yourself from unnecessary pain.
Have you heard the phrase, “Delayed obedience is disobedience”? That is the truth. If we wait to obey God, then we are just as guilty as the children of Israel when they refused to go into the Promised Land. After they were told they missed their opportunity, they tried to go into Canaan, but they were too late. (Numbers 14:40-45)
If you have listened to counsel, you have already done the correct first step, but the next necessary step to obey God’s will is to do it “with haste.” Don’t wait until you are comfortable or for the time to be right. Obey immediately
